HI-TEK SOUL is Derrick May’s signature event that is based on the documentary film “High Tech Soul” that depicts the creation of Techno music in the late 80s. Before there was house music, raves, trance and progressive, all dance music was called techno. This was because that style of dance music was never heard of until Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson got together and started making techno music.

May, along with his collegues Stacey Pullen and Kevin Saunderson, re-branded their soulful and groovier style of Techno/Tech-house to Hi-Tek Soul. The Hi-Tek Soul event has been a hit all around the world from San Francisco to Japan, and showcased in over fifty cities across the globe. Saturday 27 March sees Hi-Tek Soul make its long awaited return to the world’s most famous nightclub, London’s Ministry of Sound.
